More or less. After over 2 years of on and off work between us and the body shop so far, the monster customer E12 project is a runner and we’re about ready to send it to 034 Motorsport’s dyno for tuning. Then it’s back for a final fettling, and off to the body shop for paint, then it’ll get an interior. Almost nothing on this car remains stock. M5 throttles on a built 745i M30, Motec engine control and dash, major chassis modification and reinforcement, the list goes on. The list of people involved with this project somehow is immense. Even the AC is fully custom, utilizing more modern components, and as of this morning works great. There were many times when it was difficult to see light at the end of the tunnel, but here we are. It’ll be weird not having it in the shop.

It’s nice to see a “project” from people with funds and who know what they’re doing.

I’ll try to get one before it goes. I want to hear it on the dyno, but don’t think I’ll be present for that.

Looking for some help on mine (‘77 530i) to replace the fuel filter (#2). The pump (#1) looks new, then it goes into (I think) the expansion unit (#3), and then the line goes through a grommet into the body of the car. Where is the filter normally? This diagram isn’t very helpful. I wouldn’t be surprised if they left it off, because the rest of this stuff is held on by coat hanger wire... but I also thought maybe it’s under the seat or further down the line? I don’t see one in the engine bay either.

The filter should be mounted next to the pump under the right rear of the car, as I recall. #3 is an accumulator, to hold pressure in the system when shut off.

Thanks. I’m thinking they just left it off.
